Thailand has attracted $26.8bn in chip and electronics investment bids over three years, led by PCB projects, ahead of the THECA 2026 expo in Bangkok, Aug 26-28.
Thailand has drawn $26.8 billion in investment applications for semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing over the past three years, reflecting its growing role as global supply chains diversify away from traditional manufacturing hubs. Printed circuit board (PCB) projects account for the largest share, with 224 projects worth $9.85 billion.
This wave of interest has emerged almost in parallel with Thailand's simultaneous boom in AI and data-center investment, and the two reinforce each other: data-center construction is driving demand for high-end circuit boards, packaging and testing, while the expanding electronics manufacturing base gives the data-center industry a stronger local supply chain to draw on.
The country's advanced electronics market is projected to be worth between $48 billion and $52 billion in 2026. The Board of Investment will host Thailand Electronics Circuit Asia (THECA 2026) in Bangkok from August 26 to 28, showcasing the local supply chain to prospective investors and drawing international buyers and suppliers for the event.
In recent years, BOI incentive categories have offered corporate income tax exemptions and other benefits to qualifying electronics manufacturing projects, seen as a key factor drawing multinationals to shift capacity to Thailand from more traditional manufacturing centers.
Analysts say the combination of continued supply-chain diversification and a broader corporate push toward "China plus one" style capacity diversification amid geopolitical tensions is creating a compounding effect across Thailand's upstream and downstream electronics manufacturing sector.
Industry figures caution, however, that stable power supply, a deeper pool of skilled technical labor, and logistics infrastructure remain the key variables determining whether Thailand can keep moving up the value chain into higher-value electronics manufacturing — areas officials will need to keep investing in alongside the capital inflows.
