On September 19, the Shenyang city promotion conference for the 2026 'Chasing the Chinese Dream, Discovering Liaoning' overseas Chinese-language media reporting tour — guided by the China Overseas Chinese Federation, hosted by the Liaoning Overseas Chinese Federation and the Liaoning Journalists Association, and organized by the Shenyang Overseas Chinese Federation, the Shenyang Northeast Asia International Communication Center and the Shenyang International Communication Center — was held in Shenyang. Representatives from 17 overseas Chinese-language media outlets across 12 countries and regions — including the United States, Canada, South Korea and Australia — together with representatives from five central Chinese media outlets, traveled far to gather in Shenyang, using their cameras and pens to convey the city's charm to the world. Li Jianbo, second-level inspector of the General Office of the China Overseas Chinese Federation, and An Jianye, Party secretary and chairman of the Liaoning Overseas Chinese Federation, attended the conference; Yang Zhihong, standing committee member of the Shenyang Municipal Committee of the CPC and head of its United Front Work Department, attended and delivered remarks.
Since the founding of the first overseas Chinese-language newspaper in 1815, overseas Chinese-language media have put down roots abroad and deepened their reach, building a three-dimensional communication ecosystem of 'print media plus digital platforms plus social media' — conveying the warmth and concern of home to overseas Chinese compatriots, while also interpreting China's development and progress for the international community, helping the world better understand China and come to love Shenyang.
The conference presented the notable achievements Shenyang's economic and social development has made in recent years. Today, Shenyang is building itself into an internationalized central city of Northeast Asia with rising momentum, continuing to expand high-level opening-up and fully cultivating new quality productive forces. Organizers said they hope the visiting media will make full use of their overseas communication strengths to spread the beauty of Shenyang's openness, innovation, industry and humanities to every corner of the world — helping more overseas friends understand China, perceive Shenyang, and see a new Shenyang that is innovating, transforming and embracing the world.
Jin Hao, editor-in-chief of Côte d'Ivoire's West Africa Chinese Voice, spoke on behalf of the overseas Chinese-language media. He said that as a unique bridge connecting China with the rest of the world, the visiting media representatives were fully prepared: to serve as witnesses to Liaoning's revitalization, faithfully conveying the down-to-earth, hard-working practice of Shenyang and Liaoning province as a whole to the international community; to serve as storytellers of Liaoning, telling the province's industrial resilience, urban vibrancy and human warmth in a vivid, relatable way that overseas audiences can understand and connect with; and to serve as promoters of China-foreign cooperation, building a broader bridge of dialogue and cooperation between Liaoning and the world, and bringing more international resources and cooperation opportunities to Liaoning.
At the conference, Shenyang's Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism each gave a presentation introducing the city. The 2026 'Chasing the Chinese Dream, Discovering Liaoning' overseas Chinese-language media reporting activity will continue for several days, with the visiting media delegation taking an in-depth look at Shenyang's development achievements in areas including advanced manufacturing, scientific and technological innovation, modern agriculture, historical and cultural heritage, and urban renewal — measuring the city's fabric on foot and capturing its development pulse through the lens, to present the world with a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive image of Shenyang.
