On September 16, the launch ceremony for the 2026 'Chasing the Chinese Dream, Discovering Liaoning' overseas Chinese-language media reporting tour — guided by the China Overseas Chinese Federation, hosted by the Liaoning Overseas Chinese Federation and the Liaoning Journalists Association, and organized by the Dalian Overseas Chinese Federation and the Dalian International Communication Center — was successfully held in Dalian. Representatives from 17 overseas Chinese-language media outlets across 12 countries and regions — including the United States, Canada, South Korea and Australia — together with representatives from five central Chinese media outlets, gathered in Dalian to bear witness to Liaoning's revitalization and development and to jointly tell the story of Liaoning in the new era. The launch ceremony was attended by Li Jianbo, second-level inspector of the General Office of the China Overseas Chinese Federation; An Jianye, Party secretary and chairman of the Liaoning Overseas Chinese Federation; Zhou Qin, standing committee member of the Dalian Municipal Committee of the CPC and head of its United Front Work Department; and Yao Guang'an, secretary-general of the Liaoning Journalists Association.

In his address, An Jianye extended a warm welcome to the media friends who had traveled from afar. He said the event was a concrete action taken across the overseas Chinese federation system to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on work related to overseas Chinese affairs and to carry out the spirit of the National Conference on Overseas Chinese Affairs. Overseas Chinese-language media, he said, serve as a bridge connecting China with the rest of the world, and he expressed hope that the visiting media would use this trip as an opportunity to experience the vivid practice of Northeast China's revitalization through a ‘window on Liaoning’ — serving as witnesses to Liaoning's revitalization and development by objectively conveying its vivid, hard-won progress to the international community; as storytellers of Liaoning by capturing the pulse of the times and the texture of everyday life in the province's development, so that Liaoning's story is told with substance and feeling; and as promoters of China-foreign cooperation by building a broad platform for Liaoning to engage and cooperate with the world, gathering strength for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Zhou Qin said Dalian is currently at a critical stage of accelerating its all-around revitalization, and expressed hope that overseas Chinese-language media would use an international perspective to comprehensively document Dalian's revitalization efforts, conveying the city's locational advantages, industrial vitality, cultural character and development opportunities to every corner of the world — and, through the media's reporting, encourage more overseas and domestic Chinese compatriots and business figures from all sectors to visit Dalian for inspection tours, business talks and investment, sharing in the opportunities of Northeast China's revitalization era.

Chen Lin, president of Canada's Souluo Magazine, spoke on behalf of the overseas Chinese-language media. He said the visiting media would explore Liaoning from an international perspective and translate what they saw and heard on the trip into text and imagery that overseas audiences could understand and relate to, telling an authentic and vivid story of Liaoning's revitalization and helping the province broaden its path for international cooperation.

At the launch ceremony, Dalian's Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism each gave a presentation introducing the city. The ‘Chasing the Chinese Dream, Discovering Liaoning’ reporting tour will run for seven days, with the media delegation conducting on-the-ground reporting in both Dalian and Shenyang, taking an in-depth look at Liaoning's development achievements in areas including advanced manufacturing, scientific and technological innovation, modern agriculture, historical and cultural heritage, and urban renewal.

The 'Chasing the Chinese Dream, Discovering Liaoning' program is understood to be a flagship initiative of the China Overseas Chinese Federation's outreach work, having sent overseas Chinese-language media on reporting trips across China for several years running. For this Liaoning leg, the delegation will present its coverage through articles, photography and short video across multiple formats, showcasing the latest achievements of Liaoning's all-around revitalization to overseas Chinese communities and the international public, and building a new bridge for deepening exchange and cooperation between China and the world.
